Abstract: Symmetric spaces are important examples in Riemannian geometry. They have various geometric properties. If one chooses only one of these, there is typically a much larger class of metrics satisfying this property. We will discuss some of these structures, which also exist on left invariant metrics on nilpotent Lie groups. This is joint work with Yuri Nikolayevsky.
