Mathematics 2443-005 - Calculus IV - Fall 2002
Information about Exam II
Exam II will be in the usual classroom on Thursday, October 24, 2002. Rather
than taking your usual seat, you will need to sit so that there is no one
on either side of you.
Only a basic, non-graphing calculator may be used. Actually, there is no
need to use a calculator. Scratch paper will be provided, so all you will
need is something to write with.
The exam will be worth 52 points, and will cover sections 16.3-16.8 and
17.1-17.2. Some of the questions, especially those concerning section
17.1, will draw substantially on the ideas presented in the lectures. The
approximate point breakdown by section of the text is as follows:
16.3 | 6
|
16.4 | 6
|
16.5 | 4
|
16.6 | 7
|
16.7 | 4
|
16.8 | 7
|
17.1 | 9
|
17.2 | 9
|
Total | 52
|
The following topics will definitely be covered (of course, the exam is not limited to
these topics):
1.
| supplying limits of integration in double and triple integrals
|
2.
| calculation of mass and moments, calculation of surface area
|
3.
| integration in polar coordinates and in spherical coordinates
|
4.
| calculation of line integrals
|
You do not need to memorize the formulas for x, y, z, and dV in spherical
coordinates.
Exams that I wrote for this course in previous semesters, both with and
without solutions, can be found on
their course pages. Links to those pages are on the
course pages page.
Our exam may be a bit longer than those from courses which had 50-minute
classes.
