Information about Exam II
Exam II will be in the usual classroom on Thursday, March 6,
2003. Please take your usual seat.
Only a basic, non-graphing calculator may be used. Actually, there is no
need to use a calculator. Scratch paper will be provided, so all you will
need is something to write with.
The exam will be worth 51 points, and will cover sections 16.1-16.8. Also,
there will be one question which is very similar to a question that
appeared on Exam I. The approximate point breakdown is as follows:

The following topics will definitely be covered (of course, the exam is not limited to
these topics):
| 1.
| supplying limits for double integrals and triple integrals
|
| 2.
| Riemann sums for double integrals
|
| 3.
| integration in polar coordinates, cylindrical coordinates,
and spherical coordinates
|
| 4.
| density functions and calculation of mass
|
| 5.
| using double or triple integrals to find areas and volumes
|
Formulas for x, y, z, and dV in spherical coordinates will be given. You do
not need to know integration by trigonometric substitutions, partial
fractions, etc., but should be able to carry out basic integrations such as
those needed for the homework problems.

Our exam may be a bit longer than those from courses which had 50-minute
classes.
