Exam II will be in the usual classroom on Thursday, March 24, 2005.
Calculators are not needed and are not to be used. Blank paper will be
provided, so all you will need is something to write with.
The exam will be a mix of problems similar to those of the homework,
matters discussed in the lectures, and perhaps some things you have not
seen before but which can be solved using ideas from the course. The
problems will vary widely in difficulty. Everyone should be able to do many
of the problems, but few students, if any, will be able to do all
them. Just relax, do your best, and move on to your next task in life.
The main topics are the exponential and logarithm functions. The following
will definitely be covered (of course, the exam is not limited to these
topics):
1. | Setting up integrals to calculate volumes. |
2. | Average value of a function on an interval. |
3. | One-to-one functions, inverse functions. |
4. | Exponential functions and their graphs. |
5. | Using exponentials and logarithms to solve equations. |
6. | Calculation of derivatives involving logarithms and exponentials, logarithmic differentiation. |
7. | Calculations of integrals involving logarithms and exponentials. |
