On Fixed-Point Sets of \(\mathbb{Z}_2\)-Tori in Positive Curvature

Abstract: In joint work with Kennard and Khalili Samani, we were able to generalize the Half-Maximal Symmetry Rank result of Wilking for torus actions on closed manifolds of positive sectional curvature to \(\mathbb{Z}_2\)-torus actions. In this talk, I'll discuss recent joint work with Bosgraaf and Escher that generalizes that result by lowering the rank of the \(\mathbb{Z}_2\)-torus action to approximately 1/8 of the dimension of the manifold.
