Announcements: | The final exam for this course will be on Monday, December 14 from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. |
| The final will cover all the material we have covered this semester, but will be more heavily weighted toward the topics covered since the last exam (Sections 6.3-8.2 plus the material from the lectures and homework assignments). |
| We skipped the following parts of sections 6.3-8.2: Thm 6.7, Prop 6.5, Cor. 6.4, Thm. 6.8, Thm. 7.7, the Lipschitz condition on p. 200, Lemma 8.2, Cor. 8.1, Thm. 8.5. Also, in Section 6.3, we often replaced "compact set" with "closed bounded interval". |
| We covered the following topics which are not in the book: The Intermediate Value Property (IVP) and the result that if f is strictly monotone on an interval I and has the IVP then f is continuous on I; the kinds of counterexamples we talked about on "crazy function day"; and the theorem from Monday that the function F(x) which is the definite integral of a function f from a to x is continuous. |
